Why we can’t give you a fixed price online

Cleaning isn’t like buying a shirt off the rack. The same floor area can be an easy morning or a long day depending on what’s actually there when we walk in. Anyone who quotes you a firm number without asking a single question is either guessing, or planning to add to it later.

So we publish where the prices start, list what moves them, and then ring you and ask four questions. The number we give you on that call is the number you pay. We don’t quote low and add things on the day.

The seven things that change the price

• How much is in the way. Furniture still in the house, boxes, a garage full of gear. Shifting things to clean under and behind them is part of the job and it takes time.
• Rubbish and building waste. Taking it away isn’t part of a standard clean. If there’s a lot of it, tell us up front and we’ll price it in properly.
• How long since it was last done properly. A place cleaned fortnightly and a place cleaned once a year are two different jobs at the same square metreage.
• Ovens, range hoods and shower screens. These three are what blow out a vacate clean, and they’re the three people forget to mention.
• Getting in. Stairs with no lift, nowhere to park, or a strata building where we need to book the loading dock.
• Pets. Hair in carpet and upholstery adds time, and a vacate clean may also need a flea treatment.
• The layout. 200 m² on one level is quicker than 140 m² over three.
